Our Approach
We are a non-profit organization whose goal is to help change the lives of thousands of disadvantaged children in Israel. All donations to the Association are tax-deductable.
We started our activities in Yerucham in 2002, working within the primary school system (see ‘How we started‘). In many cases this was the only place for children to get education and values. Since then we’ve expanded to other communities around Israel, working with schools and kindergartens at the country’s geographical and cultural peripheries.
The Yerucham Association is known for setting an original and holistic path, going to ‘forgotten areas’ of Israel and donating when nobody else does. From the start we determined that the funds we collected would be channeled directly for the benefit of the children.
Our approach is to Adopt a School, a tailored program where we work closely with the school principal and her staff. By listening to their problems, offering solutions and resources, we help them to uplift facilities, expand activities and respond to urgent issues.
Assistance can come in the form of arranging for extra teaching hours, adding more staff, reducing the size of classes, contributing extracurricular activities and other benefits.
Our seven focal points of activity are:
Children
meeting their basic needs, such as clothing, nutrition, school supplies, medical care, private lessons and more.
Teachers
giving them essential and ‘personally-tailored’ support to help turn their plans into reality
Parents
Guiding and supporting them with regard to the best ways to helping their children.
